The Kazakhstan Mint of the National Bank of the Republic
of Kazakhstan
January 1992 – meeting of the Government
of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty on circulation medium industrial
production
January 13, 1992 –coin specimens manufactured at UMZ
facilities were presented at the meeting in Almaty Commencement of UMZ-based
mintage department The first coining press manufactured by GREBENER was
installed in UMZ-based ‘M’ production department .
November 1992 – the first production lot of circulating
coins ordered by the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan was minted.
1993 – The Mint received an order for state awards from
the Administration of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. ‘N’ production
department was established.
1994 – the first state orders and medals of the Republic
of Kazakhstan were minted.
1995 – The Mint represented by ‘M’ and ‘N’ departments
and the toll shop was registered as a separate legal entity – non-ferrous
metal product plant.
1997 – commercialization of accessories and badges production
for security and military ministries of the Republic of Kazakhstan and
verification marks for Gosstandart - the state standardization agency.
1998 – Pursuant to the Governmental Regulation # 437
of May 14, 1998 and President’s Statutory Decree on the National Bank
of the Republic of Kazakhstan the non-ferrous metal products plant was
reorganized to the Kazakhstan Mint - a republican state enterprise of
the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
1998 – commercialization of production of jewelry, cutlery,
wedding rings and silver-containing contacts for electric drive transport.
1999 – the Mint branched out proof quality gold and silver
coins and new state awards of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2001 – commercializing of unique one-kilo silver proof
quality coins.
2002 – the Mint fulfilled the first foreign customer’s
order for proof quality coins production
2003 - the Mint achieved accreditation to International
Quality Standard ISO 9001:2000 and received a certificate for coins and
state awards production issued by the TUV CERT Certification Body of TUV
Thuringen e.V (Germany).
2004 – the Mint branched out proof quality coins as a
part of international coin program.
The Kazakhstan Mint today is a modern dynamic business equipped with efficient
high-precision equipment manufactured by the leading foreign companies.
Total cycle of technological coinage process - from fusion and tolling
to stamping meets the state’s needs in circulating and memorable coins,
state awards, sport, corporative and jubilee medals and brands for state
standard and hallmark control agencies.
